Let me just take a moment to share this crazy story. I first met “Ms. Miller” when I was in fifth grade. Oh my gosh. FIFTH GRADE. She was my Bible study leader, and her and I, along with a few other girls, met each week during our lunch period. Not only was she my Bible study leader, but she also took me and my best middle school friend to Chicago for a little girls getaway weekend. We drove from Cincinnati all the way there…which I’m sure with two fifth grade girls was quite the adventure…Susan moved to a different school, and I moved to Detroit with my family. I think my mom and her stayed in contact for a little bit, and when I was in college, we found each other through facebook. (Oh, how it brings people together.) But the crazy part is, one day I posted that I was so excited to finally know that I was moving to Charleston. And she sends me a message that says, “Wait, you’re moving to Charleston? Charleston, South Carolina? I’m moving there too!” Seriously, we both moved across the country to the random city of Charleston within weeks of each other. Wow.
It was so great to reconnect, especially because I was able to meet her daughter, Mariela! Obviously a ton has changed since I was in fifth grade : ) but it has been so great to have Susan and Mariela as friends down here. They have welcomed me into their home and into their lives. And a few weeks ago I was able to take some pictures for them at the beach for their Christmas cards. Enough rambling by me about how crazy life is. Here is the beautiful Miller family!
