The idea for this workshop started from a conversation over tacos and margaritas. A conversation about how much we rely on our second shooters during weddings and how we wish we could handpick who they are.

So here we are.

Doing just that.

We all started somewhere.

We all had someone teach us the ropes, show us how to photograph a wedding party, carry three bouquets simultaneously and photograph cocktail hour like a pro.

…and now we want to give back. Coming from five different successful wedding photography businesses and backgrounds, we’re putting together a one-day workshop for up and coming second shooters. For those movers and shakers who have the passion, but just need the chance; those who need the know-how, the portfolio images and the step-by-step to get started. We want to pour into you with all that we know so that when everything is said and done, you’re ready to come alongside us at our weddings!

WHO IS PUTTING THIS ON?

Five Charleston-based wedding photographers who are obsessed with weddings…and each other: Dana Cubbage Weddings, Jenna Marie Weddings, Sara Bee Photography, Caroline Ro, and me, Taylor Rae Photography!

HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST ME?

$350.00. This will include all-day teaching from the five of us, shooting demonstrations and a unique styled shoot for you to photograph. And yes, you’ll be able to keep the images for your portfolio!

WHAT WILL WE BE TALKING ABOUT/DOING?

We’ll be focusing on how to become an ideal second shooter. Everything from what to wear, how to photograph the bridal party on your own, how to interact with wedding day vendors, on and off camera lighting techniques, how to add value as a second shooter and more. We could (and will) talk for hours about second shooting! Most of us started as second shooters and later transitioned into running our own businesses, so we’re passionate about you having the best experience.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THIS IS FOR ME?

FAQ

I WON’T BE ABLE TO COME FOR THE ENTIRE DAY-CAN I COME FOR PART OF THE WORKSHOP?

If your schedule only allows for partial day attendance, we’d still love to have you. Note that the price still remains the same and from a photographers’ perspective, it’s more enticing to want to work with someone who has been learning with us the entire day.

I’VE FOUND OUT THAT I CAN NO LONGER ATTEND-IS MY PAYMENT REFUNDABLE?

Unfortunately, no. We’ve planned for each and every one of you coming so payments aren’t refundable. Spots are transferable to individuals who complete an approved application. Emai us if this situation arises.

DOES THIS MEAN THAT AFTER THIS WORKSHOP, I’LL BE ABLE TO SHOOT WITH YOU?

While second shooter opportunities with us are not guaranteed, you will be armed with the skills and knowledge required to be a valuable second shooter to us should the opportunity arise in the future! We are always looking for reliable second shooters to add to our team, so more than likely, you will have the opportunity to work with one or more of us in the future!

WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW IF WEDDINGS ARE FOR ME?

The five of us live and breathe weddings all day, every day. The workshop will be specially centered around wedding photography so if you have some hesitation about jumping into weddings, this may not be the right opportunity for you.

CAN I USE THE PHOTOS I TAKE AT THE STYLED SHOOT?

Yes! We’ll be bringing a professional team of vendors-rental furniture, hair and makeup, a real bride and groom dressed to the nines, florals and more! You’ll be able to use the images for your portfolio, website, social media and more. The only thing off limits will be selling or submitting your images to any print or online publication.
