Sara and Ryan contacted me a few months ago about doing their engagement session while they were in Charleston. They were road-tripping from Ontario to Savannah (!!) and back. I’ve been on many-a-road trip in my life, from Chicago to Seattle, Seattle to Charleston, and Charleston to Milwaukee. So I can relate to anyone who loves a good drive through the country every now and again. These two are the type of wanderlust people that I adore. I asked them the story of their proposal. Ryan had planned a “birthday trip” for Sara. He had placed a postcard of New York and a red apple on her table, and that weekend they flew down to The Big Apple :) She thought it was just her birthday trip, until that evening when they were walking over the Brooklyn Bridge. She turned around and Ryan was on his knee asking her to be his wife. So sweet!
We met up at the Cistern in downtown Charleston, where all the flowers were blooming and it was the most perfect spring day. Sara and Ryan danced a little, laughed a lot, and stood under the American flag before I remembered that they are Canadian so that’s kind of a funny photo for them :) We ended their session down at Folly Beach, where we had to fight off killer gnats by running into the water. I’m so happy that I was able to spend some time with these two while they were in Charleston! I hope y’all loved this city as much as I do :)
