Patrick and Mackenzie Proposal

Y’all know that I love a good Charleston proposal story, and this one is SO GOOD! Grab your popcorn and settle in!

Mackenzie was visiting Charleston with two of her friends over her spring break from law school. Patrick wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise, so he thought this would be a great opportunity. Mackenzie had absolutely no idea that Patrick had actually planned to fly in for a Charleston proposal. Her friends were in on the secret and had to play it cool all week while they were in town. (No pressure.) Patrick and I met downtown the day of the proposal. We decided he would hide out in a doorway on a beautiful cobblestone street, and I was hanging around taking photos of the scenery. 

When Mackenzie and her friends passed a certain point, I did a secret signal to Patrick, and he popped out. Mackenzie looked confused at first, followed by a look of shock, followed by a hand to her mouth and tears. She was COMPLETELY surprised! It’s not often where I hear a proposal story where the girl had literally no idea that this was about to happen. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t even know your boyfriend is in the same town as you! 

My favorite part? I loved watching as she looked from Patrick to her friends, putting all the pieces together. I think that might be one of my favorite parts of proposals…hearing the girl start to remember weird things that had happened, thinking of moments that she should have pieced together what was happening!

It was such a sweet moment, and I’m so thankful that I got to be a part of this! Patrick did an absolutely amazing job planning this proposal, and after meeting Mackenzie, I could see why Patrick was so smitten with her! I could tell even in the short time I was with them that they are both down-to-earth, wonderful people, and I’m honored to have had the chance to work with them!
