A South Carolina Aquarium Wedding | Katie + Cat
I’ve been looking forward to this wedding for YEARS. Not even kidding. I just looked back at our first email and it was from March of 2019. From the first time I met Katie and Cat at the Gin Joint in 2019, I instantly knew I liked them. They were kind, welcoming, and very obviously smitten with each other. Cat talked about all the things, and Katie would jump in occasionally, but most of the time just laughed and smiled at Cat’s love of dialogue
Last year, Cat and Katie eloped at Washington Park when it was clear their April 2020 wedding was going to have to be postponed. I had the honor of photographing that, and in the midst of all that was happening, it was such a joyous celebration. Their pups got to join, they had a cake to cut, and their friend officiated the ceremony for them.
This year, they finally got to have their big celebration. We did the first look at Washington Park, because how special is that?! In the same spot that they said “I do” last year, they saw each other for the first time on their wedding celebration day.
Their family and friends gathered at the Aquarium for their ceremony. We all had to laugh when a HUGE cargo ship pulled in behind them, did a few twirls (seriously), and then headed back out to the ocean. These two have the best sense of humor and were cracking up about the scene playing out in the background.
There was a cotton candy sky to start the evening of heartfelt toasts, happy tears, and getting down on the dance floor.
Katie and Cat, I feel like I could talk about y’all and your sweethearts for ages! Thank you so much for including me in so many wonderful moments in your story. Cheers to a great (2nd) year of marriage!!
