A Boone Hall Proposal | Reagan + John

John proposed to Reagan at Boone Hall one warm October day last year. And let me tell you, this is a man who PLANNED his proposal! I’m always so impressed when guys reach out to me with their elaborate and unique proposal ideas, and have thought to have everything photographed!

John and Reagan are doing long distance right now, and they decided to take a trip to Charleston. Reagan used to live here, so she wanted to show John some of her favorite places. John knew that Reagan liked the romantic feel of Boone Hall, so he planned her surprise proposal for their visit. We planned the proposal for as soon as they opened that October morning. I pretended to be a tourist taking photos of the property, and John and Reagan walked up the path to the house. Seemingly out of nowhere to Reagan, he stopped in the path and turned to her. He talked to her for a few seconds, then got down on his knee on the dirt path in front of the house. Reagan’s hand flew to her mouth, and she immediately pulled John up to give him a big hug.

That in and of itself would have been enough, but John was full of surprises. We walked around Boone Hall for a bit taking portraits, both of them with the widest grins on their faces. John told me during this portion of the day that he had hand-crafted the wooden ring box. After a little while, John told Reagan that we were now going to head downtown to take some more photos. He had a surprise for her in my car…he had ordered a bunch of dresses for her to try on for the second portion of the photoshoot! (That was another fun part of the planning…the night before, I had broken in to their apartment (with John’s permission, of course!) to grab the dresses so she wouldn’t find them in the back of his car! It was very 007 style.) She goes in to the bathroom to try on the dresses, and when she comes out, he presented her with a box. She opens the box to find a pair of beautiful, red-bottomed Louboutin heels. I don’t think she could have been more shocked! John, you have certainly set the bar high for yourself :) :) 

I loved everything about this surprise, and I’m so excited to be able to photograph their wedding next year! We just did a session at Lowndes Grove for their save the date photos, so stay tuned soon for that post!
