In mid-April, I traveled down for a Beaufort family session with the Hazelwood family! Kendra is a fellow photographer, and it’s always SUCH an honor when a fellow photographer reaches out to you for a session! Let me tell you, we are obviously the pickiest people when it comes to choosing a photographer for our own photos. Kendra and I laughed over the fact that when we’re in front of the camera, we have to consciously not direct and pose the photos. Instead, we get to relax and let the person we hired do all the work!
Even as a photographer, I get nervous in front of the camera, so I love taking the time to have my photos taken every once in a while. It’s so helpful for me to remember the nervousness you feel in front of the camera, as it helps me direct my couples and families to feel comfortable, at ease, and like they can be themselves! That’s so important to me, and I know it’s why all my couples and families reach out after they get their galleries back, saying the photos look so natural, unposed, and that their smiles are real!!
Having this Beaufort family session was also a great excuse for a little overnight getaway for my family, and it was our first hotel stay with BOTH kids! It went surprisingly well…Ben loved all the pillows I stuffed around him on his bed, and he didn’t even wake up when Josie woke up for her 4 am feeding. Success!
