Being a wedding photographer, I have the privilege of being around people on a very happy day. Family and friends are all gathered together, everyone is excited to see the bride and groom, and you’re marrying your best friend. So I usually leave weddings feeling like it was a pretty joyful day. But I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone quite as exuberantly joyful as Jessica. I met her for the first time on her wedding day, and when I walked in she gave me a big hug to welcome me to her day. She sat on the couch as she got ready and beamed over her adorable daughter Dublyn in her flowergirl dress. She laughed as she talked about her husband-to-be, Bruce, and how he probably still hadn’t started getting ready. I met up with her again after the wedding for a maternity session, and she was exactly the same way. And the best thing is how Bruce brings it out of her. He walks into a room and her face just lights up. Bruce has the driest sense of humor, and both times I was with them, Bruce kept cracking jokes that had me and Jessica laughing while he looks at us like, “Oh, was that funny?” I love all the candid moments on their wedding day of them looking at each other and collapsing in fits of laughter. It was so lovely to see that they are like that on a daily basis. What a joy-filled life!
This first looks was one of my all-time favorites. It was minutes before the wedding ceremony. Dublyn wanted to be next to her momma the whole day, and so right before the first look she walks over to Bruce, and he lifts her up and gives her a kiss. Then she helps carry the back of her mom’s dress while she walks towards Bruce. It was one of the absolute sweetest moments I have ever seen, that a little 3 year old would carry her mom’s dress so it would be perfect for when she saw her groom :)
