A Daniel Island Club Anniversary | Tessa + Dalton
Sometimes things don’t go the way you planned them.
Tessa + Dalton were supposed to get married last September at the Daniel Island Club, but the hurricane had other plans. (Is it bad that I can’t even remember which hurricane it was because we’ve had so many in the past few years?!) Charleston faced a mandatory evacuation, and the two of them drove up to Tennessee.
They were determined to still get married on their planned wedding day, and in four days, they re-planned everything and had a beautiful ceremony in her parents backyard. I know it wasn’t what they had imagined and planned for their wedding day, but you know that I love me a good backyard wedding. There’s always something so intimate about getting married in a place so familiar. And in the midst of chaos and uncertainty with a hurricane looming off the coast, I’m sure the familiarity was extremely welcomed.
This September, as their one year anniversary neared, I had the pleasure of meeting them at the Daniel Island Club. They got back into their wedding dress and tux, and we took wedding day portraits. I love taking anniversary portraits in general, and it made it even more special that they were in their wedding outfits once again. We ended the evening with a champagne toast, celebrating their wonderful first year of marriage.
Couples like Tessa and Dalton make my job even more special. They know that marriage is so much more than their wedding day, and that the most important thing is that they’re married and in love. Thank you two for being so great! Happy anniversary!!
