So this one time, I photographed a wedding in Portugal. For the sweetest, most amazing couple. It all started when Dimitrios contacted me about photographing his proposal to Andrea. He was bringing her down to Charleston from New York, and wanted to propose in front of the Angel Oak. (You can see that session here!) When I delivered their photos, I let them know that I would travel to New York for their wedding if they would like that. And they said, “Weeeell, what about Greece or Portugal?” Um, done and done :) They decided to have their wedding in a beautiful church near Andrea’s family home. You know that Little Big Town song that goes, “Take me down to the little white church”? I’m pretty sure if they weren’t singing about a church in the south, they were singing about this church. It was stunning. And then, the reception was at a PALACE. No joke. The Bussaco Palace. Everything about the day was just magical. Andrea and Dimitrios are the type of people who make you feel so welcome. They had told a bunch of their friends and family that it was my birthday, and everyone kept wishing me a happy birthday. (Like I cared that it was my birthday. I was doing what I loved, following around a gorgeous couple in a palace! Eeeh!) I couldn’t have been happier to get to know the two of them, and I would have been happy to photograph their wedding any place on earth.
