Oh my goodness. This year. It was my craziest year to date. I told a group of my girlfriends during my 2014 wedding season that I wasn’t going to use the word “busy” anymore. That was the second year of running my business full-time, and I used that word way too much. It was giving me anxiety every time I thought about how much I had to do, how many weddings I had to edit, engagement sessions to return, emails to write. And then I thought about it, and realized I was causing the anxiety. Whenever someone asked me how I was doing, I would always so, “oh my gosh, so busy.” How annoying! When I thought about it, who ISN’T busy? Everyone is balancing work, friends, play, life, demanding schedules. So I got rid of that word from my vocabulary, and let me tell you, 2015 was a MUCH better year for me. Even though I doubled the amount of weddings I photographed, I just felt better. Sure, my season was full to the brim (probably TOO full!), but once I threw away that anxiety-ridden word, I just felt like a weight was lifted. And I should mention, however, that was through a lot of prayer and introspection, of God being the one to let me know that “busy” was a really sorry excuse for being anxious :)
All that being said, here are some of my favorite images from my 2015 wedding season. But this is just part 1, weddings from January-July. This year included weddings and sessions in Charleston, upstate Wisconsin, Charlotte, Philadelphia, Puerto Rico, and Portugal. It included elopements, surprise weddings, intimate ceremonies, and weddings with hundreds of guests. I am SO thankful to all of my wonderful couples who let me into their lives this year. Who trusted me on such an amazing and special day in their lives. Who introduced me to family and friends, who said the kindest words to me, who sang happy birthday to me when I photographed a wedding in Portugal on my birthday :) It was SUCH a good year, and I’m so happy that busy-ness didn’t get in the way of enjoying every moment of it. Part 2 coming soon!
