Christina & Kurt
A Wedding at Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, SC
This September I photographed Christina and Kurt’s wedding at Wachesaw Plantation. You know how I say I love to photograph joyful couples who care more about their marriage than their wedding day? This is that couple. WOW. From the moment I walked into Christina’s getting ready house, when I saw Kurt waiting to see his bride for the first time, when she walked down the aisle, and all the way to their exit, they were so. joyful. The smile on Christina’s face was just gorgeous, and you could tell that Kurt was so overcome with emotion.
Another thing I loved about Christina and Kurt’s wedding is the guests they had. Both their families and friends were some of the nicest, easy-going people I’ve met. Everyone was just so thrilled to be there, so thrilled to be celebrating these two wonderful people. You know how special a couple is if they have such amazing people in their lives. I felt so welcomed all day, as everyone welcomed me into their celebrations. Also, their group of family and friends knew how to break it down on that dance floor. Thanks to their absolutely amazing band, The Midnight City, the dance floor wasn’t empty for one moment during the reception. I’m always so honored to be able to photograph wedding days, and when they are full of as much joy as this one, it doesn’t even feel like I’m working. This adorable little smile was plastered on Christina’s face all day. JOY. I love the first looks with dad. Mr. Lee was acting all tough, talking about how it was so hot and how he didn’t understand what we were doing with this first look, and then when he saw Christina he melted. These moments :) Some wise advice from Christina and Kurt:
Kurt: Enjoy the moment because it flies by. And don’t overdue the drinks! Have a serious conversation with your groomsmen before and ask them to be respectful for your ceremony. (YES!!!!)
Christina: Don’t sweat the small details of the day. It’s not going to go perfect, but it doesn’t matter because it’s the best day ever no matter what. (Also YES! These two get it!) I absolutely adore this color combination! From Christina: The walk down the aisle with my dad was incredible. I think it was by far the most memorable part for me. Seeing Kurt at the end waiting, while I had all eyes locked on me was such an overwhelming, once in a lifetime feeling. He had trouble holding his emotions back, while I had trouble holding a huge smile back :) I love this first photo where you can tell Kurt is trying to hold back the waterworks :) From Kurt: I don’t know if it was my favorite part of the wedding, considering I cried so much (he did!) but saying the vows was by far the most intense and emotional experience I have ever been a part of. The light for their portraits was THE BEST! I mean, they are so cute!
