In May 2012, Steve and Mara met on Match.com.  After their second date they knew they wanted to see more of each other, and decided to see where the relationship would go!  Soon after they met, Steve moved to Royal Oak, Michigan for a job, and the couple endured a long-distance romance for 8 months.  But they made their relationship a priority, and Steve soon moved back to Charleston where their relationship blossomed over the next three years!

On December 12, 2015, the two of them were at Mara’s parents home in Palmetto Bluff when Steve got down on one knee and asked Mara to marry him.  Of course, she said YES!

Steve and Mara told me that their favorite things are just spending quality time together – whether it’s taking their dog, Jasmine, to the dog park, watching a movie, cooking dinner, or playing board games.  They just love to be together!  And on their wedding day they were most excited to celebrate with their friends and family – many of whom they did not get to see often as they still lived up north.

On their wedding day, it may have rained, it may have poured. But these two only had eyes for each other. Despite a downpour during their first look, Mara and Steve were so adorably sweet when they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. They both broke down in tears, and from where I was standing, I could hear Mara keep telling Steve “I love you so much!”
