Newborn Photography | Charleston, SC
I thought I’d do something a little different on the blog today and post some photographs of Ben’s nursery! His room was one of the rooms affected by our remodel, so from start to finish we completed the room in about two weeks. And it was about three weeks before he was born, ha! Before it was his nursery, it was our guest bedroom. Since we didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl, we painted the walls a light yellow, and then did green accents. Honestly, it probably would have looked pretty much the same even if we knew what we were having. Gender neutral for the win!
I bought the little giraffe painting a couple years ago at Hobby Lobby way before Drew and I were even talking seriously about having a baby. It was so cute I couldn’t resist! And with Drew being a zoologist, I knew our baby would most likely have an animal themed nursery :)
My mom got me these adorable little animal prints on Etsy, and they’re my favorite! Thankfully my mom likes projects, because I’m not patient enough to hang picture frames with as much precision as she did. See the little knitted booties on the top shelf? Those were knit by Drew’s mom! The bookshelf was one that Drew has had for years, and I painted it green. It took FOREVER with all the weird angles and shelves!
Here’s a little before and after! My mom and I went to every store in Charleston we could think of that would sell dressers, trying to find one we could repurpose for a changing table. I had a lot of friends tell me it’s better just to buy a dresser, since they can use it when they’re older too. The hard part is that a lot of dressers are either too tall or too short. Well, after giving up my search, Drew looked in our garage and realized we had this dresser! It was left from the previous owner of our house, and Drew had just been using it to store random tools. So, a little sanding, some furniture paint, and gold drawer pulls, and we have a changing table!
My brother and sister-in-law got me this sweet wall hanging with the Bible verse Jeremiah 29:11, that says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to proser you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” I love having that right over Ben while I’m rocking him! The little elephant mobile on top of the chair is from my cousin Alex, and Ben loves to stare up at it :)
This chair is my favorite! I got it from Wayfair, so I was nervous not to be able to sit in it before I ordered it. But it’s SO comfortable, which is great, because me and Ben spend a lot of time in that chair :)
There you have it! Ben’s nursery and a little newborn photography to boot :)
