A Folly Beach Engagement | Charleston, SC

Are y’all ready for another amazing proposal story? I’ve been so honored to be part of so many wonderfully thought out proposals recently. Apparently, the recent pandemic gave these men a lot of time to think about some over-the-top, insanely romantic proposal ideas! This Folly Beach proposal is next level!

Meet Emily and Jeff. Emily’s birthday was the day before the proposal, so Jeff told her that he had a fun evening planned for the following night that involved going to the beach and then out to dinner. It turned out to be a VERY cold and windy evening, but Emily is up for any adventure, so she went along with Jeff’s plan.

Little did she know, he had her best friend plant a message in a bottle on the beach. He had written the letter to be a generic love letter, so at first, she might not realize it was written to her. They “stumbled” across the bottle, and Jeff pointed it out to her. During all of this, I was standing on the beach pretending to take photos of the lighthouse. I always think that I’m so lucky to be in Charleston, where every tourist is walking around with a camera. That way I don’t look out of place at all! 

I’m watching her read the note, and all of a sudden, she looks over to Jeff with a little bit of suspicion. He then got down on one knee, and Emily’s reaction was priceless. Her hands flew to her mouth, and she just bawled. Jeff got teary-eyed watching her complete surprise, and I loved how both of them just kept wiping tears away after they hugged. She laughed and cried some more when her best friend Jadyn popped out from the marsh grass. She told me that she had NO idea he was going to propose since she really just figured this was for her birthday! 

Well, the surprises weren’t over yet. Next, we headed downtown, where Jeff told Emily that we would continue the photoshoot, just to get a few engagement photos of the two of them. Little did she know that her parents and her sister would also be joining the festivities! They had booked last-minute flights to Charleston to be part of the celebration. I don’t think sweet Emily could take any more surprises after seeing her family walk up at the end of our session!

Jeff, you did good, my friend. A HUGE congrats to you both!! I’m so happy I was able to be part of such a sweet moment!
