A WinMock Wedding in Winston Salem, NC | Emily + Matt

Emily + Matt were surrounded by a whole lot of love at the beautiful WinMock at Kinderton, as you can see from this first photo!

I walked into Emily and Matt’s rehearsal while a post-tropical storm passed through the area, bringing heavy wind and rain. None of us had any idea what the night or the next day would bring, but we were pretty sure we wouldn’t be stepping outside on their wedding day. Nonetheless, Emily had a huge smile on her face, and gave me the biggest hug, and said, “I’m SO glad you’re here and that you’re our photographer!” It’s seriously couples like Emily and Matt that continually blow me away and make my job so incredible. The only way to be like that in the middle of the chaos of a hurricane is to know that your marriage is about so much more than just your wedding day.

Fast forward a couple hours into the wedding day, and miraculously, it’s barely misting outside! Emily and Matt had their first look under the willow tree that Emily loved, and it was such a joyous day celebrating their love.

Emily’s matron of honor, Liz (whose wedding I also photographed! ), spoke of how Emily is her best friend, travel buddy, and a constant source of joy in her life. Matt’s brother told everyone how much he looks up to his older brother and cherishes his wisdom and advice. You can tell Emily and Matt are so loved, and I know from experience that they are two of the kindest, sweetest people you’ll meet.
