Kelly & Tommy
A Philadelphia Wedding
Oh, how this Philadelphia wedding makes my heart happy.
I met Kelly at a bachelorette photosession two years ago. I had so much fun with her group of girlfriends, hanging out around downtown Charleston and taking photos of her friend’s bachelorette party. Kelly had recently become engaged at the time, and we ended up talking about an engagement session in Charleston. I think you might remember me gushing over how their engagement session turned out. They are a gorgeous couple to start with, and it didn’t hurt that they both have the most adorable smiles. The whole session was spent giggling. So when they contacted me about photographing their wedding in Philadelphia, I couldn’t have been more excited.
Their wedding was in the heart of downtown. My hotel was a block from the Liberty Bell, and I fell in love with the city. I wandered around the historic district, met up with my lovely past bride Marianne, and got a Philly cheesesteak with guests of the wedding who are mutual friends (and past couples! This whole trip was one of those “small world” feelings.)
Going into this wedding, I was hoping that it would be just as joyful as their engagement session, and it definitely was. As I predicted, Kelly had a permanent smile pasted on her face all morning, as she giggled with nervous anticipation to see Tommy. Everything about this wedding was so glamorous, from Kelly’s STUNNING Berta Bridal dress, to her sparkling Christian Louboutin shoes, to the gold bridesmaids dresses, to the grooms in their tuxedos. One of my favorite moments of the day (which really was hard because there were so many sweet moments!) was seeing Tommy’s gigantic smile while he waited for the doors of the cathedral to be opened, and seeing Kelly’s tearful smile as both of her parents walked her down the long aisle to Tommy. Ahh, it makes me happy all over again just thinking about it!
We drove around the beautiful city of Philadelphia for photos in front of city hall, and then to a gorgeous park right next to The Curtis Center. Their reception was beyond fabulous. Their wedding was the weekend after Thanksgiving, and their reception space had a HUGE Christmas tree set up. It was the perfect backdrop for their amazing gold cake. Even though their wedding was so beautiful, the thing I remember most when thinking about their wedding is how in LOVE Kelly and Tommy are. How they look at each other and how they make each other smile. How they would do anything for each other and are just genuinely happy when they are with each other. I’m wishing you two a lifetime of happiness, and that you always bring out those adorable smiles in each other :)
