Katherine & Alex
Trinity Methodist Church | Creek Club at I’on
Katherine and Alex were married at Trinity Methodist Church in downtown Charleston, with a reception following at Creek Club at I’on. They were my first couple to get married in 2017, and it was such an amazing way to start the year!
I loved their proposal story, as they told me in parts during the engagement session. They had decided to do a hike, and they kept climbing and climbing and climbing to the top of the mountain. They were all sweaty and out of breath when they finally reached the top. Alex took a second to compose himself and catch his breath, and then picked out the perfect location to ask her to marry him. Katherine had no idea it was coming, since she wasn’t expecting a proposal at the top of a mountain after a long hike. Man, I love when the proposal can be a complete surprise!
The knew they wanted to get married in Charleston as it was the place that Alex’s family had visited all during his childhood, and still remains their vacation spot to this day!
I don’t think there could have been a more classically gorgeous couple. Alex and his groomsmen all wore tuxedos, complete with the cummerbund, and Katherine’s bridesmaids wore long, flowing navy dresses that complemented her lace dress with a forever long train.
One of my favorite moments of the day was during the reception, when Katherine and Alex were dancing together in the middle of the dance floor. They were completely oblivious to anything but each other, and kept smiling up at one another. One of their uncles leaned over to me and said, “That right there? That’s the real kind of love.”
Thank you to the wonderful vendors who made this day possible!
