Five years ago, Taylor and Ryan stood beneath the oaks at the Legare Waring House and promised forever. The Spanish moss swayed overhead, the light filtered softly through the trees, and they began their marriage in one of the most beautiful corners of Charleston. Returning to this meaningful place years later for a Charleston family session made the experience even more special, allowing their story to come full circle in the very location where it first began.

Two little ones in tow. Tiny hands reaching up. Laughter where there were once quiet wedding-day butterflies.

As a Charleston family photographer, there is something incredibly meaningful about returning to a place that already carries history for a couple. Charlestowne Landing, home to the iconic Legare Waring House, feels timeless in a way few places do. The avenue of oaks, the open lawns, the way the light peeks through the trees – it all feels layered with stories.

And now, theirs has deepened.

We intentionally recreated a few of their wedding portraits in the same locations. Where they once stood side by side as newlyweds, they now stood with children in their arms. Where they once held hands as husband and wife, they now knelt down to scoop up giggling toddlers.

It was subtle. Emotional. Beautifully full-circle.

There is something powerful about visually seeing the growth of a family in the same physical space. The comparison between then and now isn’t just about how much has changed, it’s about what has remained constant.

The steadiness.
The foundation they built together.

Taylor and Ryan chose to create a custom heirloom album from this family session. Their album will hold images of them as newlyweds, and now as parents. The beginning of their marriage and the continuation of it.

There is something incredibly special about that kind of legacy.

Albums become anchors in a home. They live on coffee tables. They’re pulled out on anniversaries. One day, their children will flip through the pages and see their parents young and hopeful on their wedding day, and then strong and joyful, holding them in the very same place.
